Archived news: published on Friday 10 Nov 2017 by Fife Council

The North Street car park in Glenrothes is set to close next week, when the ownership of the North Street site will transfer from the council to private developer Atmore Properties Limited.

In turn, Fife Council is encouraging car users to consider using public transport or to car share, where possible. Below is a link to the council’s travel plan, which sets out some tips on alternative travel choices.

Information on North Street cark park

Alternative parking is available in the town centre, including the multi-storey car-park adjacent to Rothes Halls.

This transfer of car park ownership forms part of the largest investment in the town centre for many years. A major town centre development, representing a total investment of approximately £10 million,is underway in Glenrothes, with the redevelopment of the CISWO and adjacent car-park to accommodate a new M&S Simply Food and three smaller units.

The developer is now completing the refurbishment of the former Council office at South Street, which is set to become the new home of the CISWO. This is due to take place shortly. At this time, the North Street site will transfer to the developer and the public car park will cease to operate.

The redevelopment, that will transform and regenerate the North Street site, is set to create over 150 new local jobs.
