The Fife Carers Strategy 2012/15 was developed by a Strategy Group of carers working together with Fife Council, NHS Fife and Voluntary Sector agencies.
The Strategy was written in recognition of the important contribution unpaid carers make. A large number of people, both young and old, support or care for family members or friends in Fife. Many are unpaid and give freely of their time and energy, some committing more than 50 hours of care per week. Their dedication is enormously valuable.
The Strategy Group believes that the support carers provide helps a large number of people to live in their own homes in the community and makes limited community care resources go further. The new Carers Strategy takes account of the changing demographic projections which predict greater demand for unpaid care in the future as well as the changing policy and legislative framework for health and social care.
